If the Virgin Mary was created by God and “fashioned as a new creature” by the Holy Spirit, it was… so that she might become the mother of God. Infallible Definition of the Assumption

The fourth Marian dogma is the Assumption of Our Lady. The dogma of Mary’s Assumption, like her Immaculate Conception, has the added certainty of an infallible papal statement. Pope Pius XII in 1950 defined the Assumption of Mary in the following ex cathedra statement: “The Immaculate Mother of God, the ever Virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory.” (1)

What evidence is present in the sources of divine revelation for the dogma of Mary’s glorious Assumption into heaven? Pope Pius XII, in his papal document, declares the Assumption a dogma “revealed by God” and refers to several sources.

The Mystics and Mary’s Assumption and Coronation

When Mary’s soul left her body, the soft chanting of the angels seemed to withdraw slowly from the Cenacle. Peter and John must have perceived the glory of her soul in this moment of its liberation, for they both looked up, while the other apostles remained absorbed in prayer, with their heads bowed to the ground.

The Blessed Virgin’s body lay radiant with light, surrounded by her thousand invisible guardian angels. Her eyes were closed, and her hands were folded on her breast.

When at last all the apostles, disciples, and holy women present realized that their beloved spiritual Mother had indeed left them, their sorrow was so intense that only a special dispensation of divine power prevented some of them from dying of grief.

Did Mary’s Assumption Really Occur? – and Does It Really Matter If It Did?

What happened to the mother of Jesus Christ at the end of her life? The answer you get depends upon whom you ask. “Nothing at all unusual,” say Protestants. “A miracle! When one speaks of St. Maximilian one spontaneously thinks of his martyrdom in Auschwitz and his unlimited love for the Immaculate. However, it must be underscored that his martyrdom and Marian devotion were lived out in the context of a priestly vocation. “St. Maximilian, Priest”—this is the official title given him by Holy Mother Church. Popes Paul VI and John Paul II proclaimed Fr. Kolbe to be a luminous “example” and “glory” to the priesthood, a ministerial priest to be numbered among the great priest-saints such as Saints Ignatius of Loyola, Alphonsus M. de Liguori, Louis M. Grignon de Montfort, Vincent de Paul, John M. Vianney, and John Bosco.

Fatima 2017 Petition Drive for the Fifth Marian Dogma

During the 2017 centenary of the Marian apparitions at Fatima, the international Marian Movement, Vox Populi Mariae Mediatrici, is initiating a 2017 worldwide petition drive for the “Fifth Marian Dogma”: the solemn definition of Mary as Spiritual Mother of humanity by our beloved Holy Father, Pope Francis.

Since the beginning of the Church movement for the papal definition of Mary’s Spiritual Motherhood by Cardinal Mercier in 1915, millions of petitions have been sent to the Vatican in support of this dogmatic crown for the Mother of Jesus, who was personally given to us by Jesus to be our Spiritual Mother (Jn. 19:26).

Heart of the Message of Medjugorje

Peace through faith, prayer, fasting, penance, and conversions summarize the heart of the Madonna’s messages according to the visionaries. These six foundational themes are the basis of the message of Medjugorje upon which other important elements, such as the rosary and daily Mass are developed.

We will take up each theme by examining individual messages given by the visionaries and then look at how that same theme appears in the Gospels. The similarity between the message of Medjugorje as it appears in these themes and the identical themes found in the Gospels affirms the sound Christian doctrine contained in the reported Marian message.
