Heaven Speaks About Depression by "Anne," a Lay Apostle

It is a sad reality that the holiday season also brings with it the largest documented time of depression. In this light, we would like to offer these words of encouragement and comfort from Heaven for those suffering from depression, given through "Anne," a lay apostle. "Anne" has received permission from her local ordinary, Bishop Leo O'Reilly, Bishop of Kilmore, Ireland, for the spreading of her messages, and has also submitted all her writings to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (see article, "Discernment of Lay Apostolate of Jesus Christ the Returning King" in the Marian Private Revelation section). – Asst. Jesus

I send the greatest graces of courage to all who read these words. My children in the world can become discouraged and sad. Dearest little ones, if you are this way you must come to Me and rest your worries in My heart. I do not like to see you sad, even though life can be difficult. You feel you are alone and that is part of the reason why you feel such sadness. But you are never alone because I never leave you. To leave you would be acting against My very nature and such a thing is impossible. I am with you now, as you read these words, and I minister to your wounded heart with graces of love and courage. Continue on and I will send you relief. I have told you this and you must believe Me. It would also be acting against My nature to tell an untruth so you may believe Me and trust Me when I say this to you. I will send you relief. Bring all of your sadness to Me. Pour it out to Me. I will listen and I will continue to listen for days and days and on into eternity if necessary. I have the time, My beloved apostle. I am not too busy to listen to you.

Mary, Mediatrix of All Graces by Fr. Cornelis Friethoff, O.P.

Against the Jansenist heresy the Church taught as a divinely revealed truth that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for all men without exception. Innocent X, and after him, Alexander VIII and Clement XI, were obliged to inculcate this afresh (Denzinger 1096, 1294, 1382). St John had already stated clearly:

He, in his own person, is the atonement made for our sins, and not only for ours, but for the sins of the whole world. (I John, 2:2)

Also St Paul:

God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself. (II Cor. 5:19)

It is his (God's) will that all men should be saved and be led to recognize the truth. (I Tim. 2:4)

This divine will cannot remain unproductive, but must have a real effect in the natural as well as the supernatural order. (I Sent. 46. 1. 1., de Ver: 23: 2c and ad 2um.) Therefore God's grace, contrary to the teaching of Calvin, is at the disposal of all men.

The Mother of God by Mark Miravalle

The first and foremost revealed truth about the Virgin Mary from which all her other roles and all her other honors flow, is her providential role as the Mother of God. This dogma proclaims that the Virgin Mary is true Mother of Jesus Christ, who is God the Son made man. The dogma of Mary's Divine Motherhood, as it is commonly referred to, was solemnly defined at the third ecumenical council of Ephesus (431 A.D.).

A Mother's Loving Words to Her Son: "Accept Death" by Kevin Clarke

On my way to becoming a graduate student, I began to orient myself toward the study of theology. I picked up my dust-covered Catechism and read it. I started to open myself more to the mysteries of the faith. I had long resisted Marian devotion, but I felt a tug.

Meanwhile, I had heard a fellow Catholic endorse "The Last Temptation of Christ" as a thought-provoking and faith-inspiring film. Having heard many bad reports regarding the movie, I decided to give it a critical viewing. One especially repugnant portrayal in the movie, which on the whole I found grossly offensive in nearly all conceivable ways, was Martin Scorsese's portrayal of the Blessed Mother. I could not quite put my finger on it, but my budding faith resisted his portrayal of her as a nuisance and obstruction to his mission. The Spirit within me convulsed, rising up to defend his spouse, though my mind did not fully grasp why just yet.

I have since come to discern the frustration of the Spirit over the precious good name of his spouse. "The Last Temptation of Christ" deprives her of her loving consent. She resists her son's sacrifice for sinful man, his immolation. The Mary portrayed in the movie is not Mary at all, but a satanic anti-Mary disguised as the Blessed Mother. There is no total enmity, but cooperation with Satan. Though my indignation preceded understanding, the Spirit has led me to that full understanding. The words of Scorsese's Mary sound more like Peter's words; and in that biblical episode, the real Jesus knew who was speaking—Satan. (1)

Mary’s Maternal Mediation: Doctrinal Development in Light of Lumen Gentium, Chapter VIII by Martin LaMartina

This motherhood of Mary in the order of grace continues uninterruptedly from the consent which she loyally gave at the Annunciation and which she sustained without wavering beneath the cross, until the eternal fulfillment of all the elect. This, the first sentence of Lumen Gentium, Chapter VIII, article 62 is a statement from which we can extrapolate the progressive interrelation of the five Marian doctrines. We see that the Council is saying that her role as "Mother of God," which began with her freely willed cooperation at the Annunciation, has led her to providentially and rightly be called the "mother in the order of grace," or our "spiritual mother," in the unceasing mediation of salvific grace for the people of God. Regardless of whether the position of this statement in the order and organization of the document  is viewed as positive or negative in its effect on clarity for the faithful and ecumenism with our separated brethren, it can be asserted that the efforts of the Council have opened up "new avenues of approach" in the continuing understanding of Mary's role as Mediatrix. These are the thoughts of Pope Paul VI in a letter to the Fifth International Mariological Congress at Lisbon in August of 1967:

Although it refrained from establishing any new basis for Marian doctrine, the Council nevertheless made such excellent and clear statements concerning the most Blessed Virgin Mary that we can say that it has opened new avenues of approach both for a more profound theological study and for the promotion of a sounder and healthier Christian piety toward the Mother of God. Further Motives for Perfect Consecration to the Blessed Virgin by St. Louis Marie de Montfort

— Fourth Motive —

It Is an Excellent Means of Procuring God's Greater Glory

True devotion to Mary, faithfully practiced, is an excellent means of making sure that the value of all our good works shall be employed for the greater glory of God. Scarcely anyone acts for that noble end, although we are all under an obligation to do so. Either we do not know where the greater glory of God is to be found, or we do not wish to find it. But our Blessed Lady, to whom we cede the value and merit of our good works, knows most perfectly where the greater glory of God is to be found; and inasmuch as she never does anything except for the greater glory of God, a perfect servant of that good Mistress, who is wholly consecrated to her, may say with the hardiest assurance that the value of all his actions, thoughts and words is employed for the greater glory of God, unless he purposely revokes his offering. Is there any consolation equal to this for a soul who loves God with a pure and disinterested love, and who prizes the glory and interest of God far beyond his own?
