- Pray and Fast to Defeat FOCA – 9 Day Novena: Jan. 11-19, 2009 by Lord David Alton

This is a decisive moment in the history of the United States. The passing of the Freedom of Choice Act (U.S. Congress vote on Jan. 21-22, coupled with the President-elect’s campaign promise of signing it as his "first act" as president as early as Jan. 23) would effectively result in unprecedented amounts of innocent blood upon the hands of our administration and of our country. Mercy will soon be replaced by Justice if God has to witness our national "choice" to legislate the unrestricted destruction of his own divine image embodied in millions of our unborn brothers and sisters.

Read with great seriousness the message below from Professor Lord Alton of the U.K. which articulates the urgent imperative to pray and fast for nine days, beginning on Sunday, January 11, to defeat this Goliath abortion bill in the waiting.

Catholics, pray for the Rosary to defeat FOCA. Bring Our Mother into this battle. She is well-acquainted with fighting and conquering her ancient foe (cf. Gen: 3:15, Rev.12). And make no mistake – the battle against FOCA is a battle against Satan.

Fast two days during these nine days. Jesus makes clear that Satanic sourced activities (like FOCA) are exorcized only through prayer and fasting (cf. Mt. 17:21).

Consider the present moment as if it were nine days before Jan. 22, 1973. The Roe v. Wade decision has claimed its millions upon millions of unborn victims. We, nine days before the FOCA vote, are obliged to do everything possible spiritually and humanly to prevent the historical disaster of FOCA from becoming a reality and claiming its untold future numbers of unborn children.

Pray and fast to defeat FOCA. Pray the Rosary, invoking the Immaculate Mother of the Unborn for their protection. Go to Mass and offer Holy Communion for the defeat of this anti-Christ legislation of human sacrilege.

Only Heaven can help us now. Nothing is impossible with God.

Letter from Lord David Alton on USA Freedom of Choice Act

Dear Friends,

If you are apposed to abortion then there is bad news on the horizon. For those of you who do not know, the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) is set to be signed if the U.S. Congress passes it on January 21-22 of 2009. The FOCA is the next sick chapter in the book of abortion.

If made a law then all limitations on abortion will be lifted which will result in the following:

1) All hospitals, including Catholic hospitals will be required to perform abortions upon request. If this happens Bishops vow to close down all Catholic hospitals, more then 30 percent of all hospitals in the United States.

2) Partial birth abortions would be legal and have no limitations.

3) All U.S. taxpayers would be funding abortions.

4) Parental notification will no longer be required.

5) The number of abortions will increase by a minimum of 100,000 annually.

Perhaps most importantly the government will now have control in the issue of abortion. This could result in a future amendment that would force women by law to have abortions in certain situations (rape, Down syndrome babies, etc) and could even regulate how many children women are allowed to have. Needless to say this information is disturbing, but sadly true.

As Catholics, as Christians, as anyone who is against the needless killing of innocent children, we must stand as one. We must stop this horrific act before it becomes a law.

The Plan: To pray a novena (9 days of prayer) along with fasting starting on January 11th. For Catholics, the prayer of choice will be the Rosary with intentions to stop the FOCA. For non Catholics I encourage you to pray your strongest prayers with the same intentions, also for nine consecutive days. The hope is that this will branch and blossom as to become a global effort with maximum impact.

We have very little time so we all must act fast. Just do three things:

1) Pass this letter to 5 or more people

2) Do it in three days or less

3) Start the novena on January 11th and pray for nine consecutive days (please also fast for at least two days during the novena).

Remember that with God all things are possible and the power of prayer is undeniable. If you are against the senseless killing of defenseless children then the time is now to do something about it! May God bless you all!!

- "My Children of This World Must Learn about Love Again" by "Anne, a Lay Apostle"

The messages from "Anne, a Lay Apostle," from the international spiritual movement "Lay Apostles of Jesus Christ the Returning King" have been released for international distribution with the permission of Bishop Leo O’Reilly of the Diocese of Kilmore, Ireland, the diocese in which Anne and the international headquarters of the Lay apostolate reside. They have also been submitted by Bishop O’Reilly to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in Rome (see article, "Discernment of Lay Apostolate of Jesus Christ the Returning King," Marian Private Revelation section).

The following message comes from Volume II, entitled Conversations with the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus. I strongly encourage our readers to download these messages and, if possible, read them prayerfully before the Blessed Sacrament in the presence of our Eucharistic Jesus. They have been of untold spiritual benefit to me.

Jesus

I wish to speak to you today about love. I am all love. All love is Me. My children of this world must learn about love again, because, for many, the essence of love has been so distorted, they do not recognize it as valuable, or seek to obtain it. Love is quiet and steady, My children. Love can be relied upon. Love does not diminish in the face of temptation. There are many kinds of love upon earth and all genuine love has its place. I want My children to examine the genuine opportunities for love in their lives. Certainly a family is a primary source of love. But many families have failed in love and their members drift away in bitterness. Children, the obligation to love someone does not mean you will not be hurt. On the contrary, often, and I must say usually, this obligation to love insures that you will be hurt and it carries with it another obligation and that is the obligation to forgive. If you would like to see an example of someone who has been hurt, look at Me. You did not deserve to be hurt, little one. I understand and I see everything. I also did not deserve to be hurt. I tell you now, dearest ones, that you have hurt Me many times. Your neglect alone wounds Me terribly. But I love you. I understand you are not perfect. I look upon you and truly, I forgive you. Please accept My forgiveness and let Us begin Our walk together anew. Please, dear wounded child, take My forgiveness into your heart and let it make a home there. If a guest is welcome, a guest causes little trouble to his host because a guest who feels truly welcome will make himself at home and not cause his host any trouble. A welcome guest sees to his own needs and seeks to help his host. Isn't that true, dear one? I am your Guest. I am a Guest in your soul. Make Me welcome and I will heal, nourish, and recover your soul. Your heart will beat only with love. I will cleanse the bitterness and permanently remove the hurt. I will leave such a surplus of forgiveness that you will have plenty to lavish upon those who have hurt you. Dear children of this one true God, seek out people who have hurt you, especially in your family, and offer your forgiveness. You don’t need to look for it. Ask Me where it is, dear child, and indeed, I will hand forgiveness to you. If you do this, you will heal. You may say, "Jesus, it is too hard. I cannot do this as I have been hurt too badly."My child, again I counsel you to practice. Say these words of forgiveness in your head. Then say them aloud. Become used to the sound of them. With My graces, it will not only be possible, it will be easy. Trust Me, who loves you with a genuine love and seeks your peace. I want no barrier of bitterness between Us. I want to heal you. I want to heal families. Do not be afraid. If someone rejects your forgiveness, that is their loss. You will heal, and you will be rewarded. It matters not to Me what a recipient does with a gift you have given. I look only at the fact that you have given when I examine your life. So welcome Me as your Guest, My beloved one. I will put so much love and forgiveness in your heart that you will not be able to give it away fast enough. I am your God. Believe in Me.

Introduction

Veneration of the Mother of the Lord, which is an integral part of Christian worship, is manifested in an eminent manner in the celebration of the Church’s liturgy, but also by means of other forms of devotion, which are valuable auxiliary practices that harmonize with the liturgy but without becoming confused with it. These are precisely the other forms of Marian devotion—most specifically those of the Rosary and the scapular—which will be dealt with in the present chapter, but not without having first carefully laid the doctrinal foundation, that is to say the profound roots of all authentic veneration of Mary, liturgical or not, in Scripture, Tradition and the Magisterium. The liturgy, which is the "summit and source of the Church’s life" (SC 10), according to the teaching of the Constitution Sacrosanctum Concilium, "does not exhaust the entire activity of the Church" (SC 9) and consequently "the spiritual life is not limited solely to participation in the liturgy" (SC 12). Such truths are particularly reflected in the Marian dimension of the Christian life and in the various modes of expression of the piety of the faithful towards the Blessed Virgin Mary. That is why chapter 8 of the Constitution Lumen Gentium not only admonishes "all the sons of the Church that the cultus, especially the liturgical cultus, of the Blessed Virgin, be generously fostered" (LG 67) (1), but also "that the practices and exercises of devotion towards her, recommended by the teaching authority of the Church in the course of the centuries be highly esteemed" (LG 67). By the same token, the Directory on Popular Piety and the Liturgy (2002) exhorts

all the faithful—sacred ministers, religious and laity—to develop a personal and community devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary through the use of approved and recommended pious exercises. Liturgical worship, notwithstanding its objective and irreplaceable importance, its exemplary efficacy and normative character, does not in fact exhaust all the expressive possibilities of the People of God for devotion to the Holy Mother of God (2).

- St. Joseph Patron of the Triumph, Part I by Fr. Richard Foley, S.J.

Dr. Mark Miravalle's Foreword to St. Joseph, Patron of the Triumph

During the Fatima solar miracle of October 13, 1917, St. Joseph appeared with the Child Jesus and blessed the world. The following is the account of Sr. Lucia from her Memoirs:

After Our Lady had disappeared into the immense distance of the firmament, we beheld St. Joseph with the Child Jesus and Our Lady robed in white with a blue mantle, beside the sun. St. Joseph and the Child Jesus appeared to bless the world, for they traced the sign of the cross with their hands.

This Josephite event is only understandable in light of the heart of the Fatima message, revealed on July 13, 1917. Our Lady of the Rosary revealed that following grave global event, inclusive of the worldwide spread of the error of Communism, a conditional second world war, the annihilation of various nations, and much suffering for the Holy Father and the Church, that eventually, "in the end, My Immaculate Heart will triumph" and "a period of peace would be granted to the world."

- "My Beloved to Me, and I to Him" by St. John Eudes

"My beloved to me, and I to him" (Song 2:16). "I to my beloved, and my beloved me" (Song 6:2). "I to my beloved, and his turning is towards me" (Song 7:10), with His mind, His heart, His affection and His whole being.

It is not without mystery that the Blessed Virgin Mary repeats the three foregoing verses under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, speaking in the sacred Canticle (Song of Songs), which is so mysterious and full of eternal verities. The preceding three verses admit of nine explanations, each revealing to us the incomprehensible love of the Almighty for the peerless Virgin and the ardent love of her virginal Heart for God, Her Creator.

- Nature of Perfect Devotion to the Blessed Virgin by St. Louis Marie de Montfort

All our perfection consists in being conformed, united and consecrated to Jesus Christ; and therefore the most perfect of all devotions is, without any doubt, that which most perfectly conforms, unites and consecrates us to Jesus Christ. Now, Mary being the most conformed of all creatures to Jesus Christ, it follows that, of all devotions, that which most consecrates and conforms the soul to Our Lord is devotion to His holy Mother, and that the more a soul is consecrated to Mary, the more it is consecrated to Jesus. Hence it comes to pass that the most perfect consecration to Jesus Christ is nothing else but a perfect and entire consecration of ourselves to the Blessed Virgin, and this is the devotion which I teach; or, in other words, a perfect renewal of the vows and promises of holy Baptism.

- De Heva Creationis Novae: The Maternal Bride of Jesus Christ by Seth M. Evangelho

If one were to combine the holiness of all the angels and saints together, it would not amount to the radiant glory of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The sanctity that fills her being is so extraordinary that her surpassing splendor is not a matter of degree but of kind. Mary is the Immaculate Conception, the "Icon of the Holy Spirit." She is a helper fit for the King.

The very essence of her nature is a participation in the graces wrought on Calvary. Through a trans-temporal blessing Mary receives in advance her redemption. More precisely, she is saved, rather than "bought back"—a theological distinction termed preservative redemption. This Israelite girl, whom we herald the Immaculate Conception, is the singular representative of humanity, indeed the only created person capable of so magnanimous a fiat as to bring forth the Son of God and the Redemption of the world. Created gratia plena, Mary was showered with the graces necessary to respond in perfect accord with the will of God, freely consenting to the prophetic message of the Archangel Gabriel. This perfect response, her unwavering sanction, initiates the moment of all moments that unites all the rest.
